Are you worried about going home for Thanksgiving?

Would you like to bring with you the tools to support yourself to remain connected to yourself and others?

Even when the TV is blaring...
your brother won’t look up from his phone...
and your mom keeps knocking on your door when you just need alone time?

if you are tired of shutting down - and doing all the same things you’ve been doing since you were a kid - come learn concrete strategies and skills to help you stay motivated to stay in connection with yourself and others.

Even with all the same old family dynamics, YOU don’t have to be lonely and isolated as usual.

Join me for a short, practical prep session that you can do right from your bedroom with just an internet connection.

I'll guide you through a few simple exercises that you don't need any preparation or prior training in communication to benefit from. These exercises use simple skills for self-care and communication and help you apply them in that most challenging context of all - your family.

At the end of the hour, you’ll have clear, doable steps to take with you when you go home for Thanksgiving.

As a Nonviolent Communication trainer, I’ve honed these practices over the last five years to help myself and my students and clients make it through the holidays no matter how "good at NVC" they are.

You’ll know what to do when:

- you start feeling drained listening to Aunt Helen
- you find yourself defending your job (again) to your older brother
- that familiar sleepy haze comes over you and all you want to do is crawl back into bed

Even though it seems overwhelming and impossible to change, a little bit of preparation goes a long way.

In the words of a past participant:
"When I took this class I realized, ‘OH! I’m actually not helpless. I DON’T have to revert to old childhood habits of unfulfilling self-care. I can have agency and power in creating my OWN structures when I’m at my family’s house. I don’t have to revert to my family’s culture, even though I am in their house. I can bring my own culture with me.’”

Sounds good, but maybe you're wondering...

Hey Amanda, what if I'm not used to doing this kind of thing on video?

Yes, it does seem strange. I’ve been teaching and facilitating communication training over video and phone for more than three years and I’ve got it down. My students and clients often marvel at how much personal and specific-to-them benefit they got through the computer screen.

But Amanda, my family is hopeless.

I know. That doesn’t mean you have to continue to be bogged down. There’s a lot you can change about your own experience even if everyone else continues to just drink beer and watch the Seahawks.

  • I cut off registration when there are as many people as I can comfortably work with in a live class. I've had to cut off registrations for webinars before so make sure you register now if you want to join!

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants to have a less crappy holiday time this year.

This webinar is NOT for you if:

You're not interested in trying anything new to have a better time this year. I know that doing something different takes effort and if you are already totally burned out and not quite hanging on this might not be the right time for you. In that case I wish you rest and sweet ease this year!

What to bring:

Something to write with and your journal or paper.
A cup of tea and whatever would help you feel cozy and present.
Your threadbare teddy bear can sit in your lap and no one will know.
