   This experiential retreat will help you integrate practical NVC tools through story, understanding, play, demonstration, practice and a heart-connected approach.

In an atmosphere of deep trust:

FRED SLY and LIV MONROE will co-facilitate, tailoring this retreat to you, focusing on enhancing the quality of connection and empathy in all of your relationships, especially the one with yourself.

Fred and Liv, both certified CNVC trainers, will deepen this Basic Skills Compassionate Communication© retreat into personal transformation.

Liv is a long term member of "Northwest Compassionate Communication."  You are probably reading this on their web site, www.nwcompass.org. Since 1999 she has been providing  community, family, and court ordered mediations.  Liv has taught NVC in schools to students and staff, in organizations and businesses, as well as for families and the general public. Liv also coaches (individuals, couples and groups) and facilitates Restorative Circles. She lives in a cohousing community in Olympia, Washington.

Fred has 20 years experience offering NVC training to individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations, as well as coaching, mediation, and consulting services. He founded rosecitynvc.org and headed it until he recently moved on and left it in good hands.  In 2002 he began offering NVC in prisons, and then founded the Oregon Prison Project (www.oregonprisonproject.org), which offers NVC trainings in six Oregon Prisons (including Oregon State Penitentiary) and two post-release programs.  Fred's doctorate in Clinical Psychology focused on the power of empathy in reducing violence in our lives.

Who is it for?

  We welcome beginning to advanced Nonviolent Communication practitioners.
Please read "Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life" by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg and attend a workshop introducing Nonviolent Communication. What to bring:

  Bring bedding including a top sheet (a fitted bottom sheet is provided for each bed), blankets, pillow, and towels or reserve a bedding set. The cost is $20 for one person, $27 for two in one bed.

Writing materials

Swimming suits are not required in the natural hot pools.

Tuition Details:


Until Apr 01, 2020, The tuition is: $330 plus Room and Board. Call Liv to select your room.

After Apr 01, 2020, the tuition is: $370 plus Room and Board depending on your chosen accommodations--call Liv to choose.

If tuition is not paid at time of registration, the minimum deposit is $394.00 with the remainder due by Jun 10, 2020.

Workshop Tuition:  $370    ($330 if paid by April 1, 2020)

Room and Board cost for 4 nights, 12 meals, and use of facilities: Cost varies by type of accommodation: $344 with own tent, $400 in Breitenbush tent, $532 in a shared cabin, or $662 in shared cabin with bathroom.  Call Liv to secure your preference. Tent and cabin availability is limited.

Deposit:  Please disregard the note above that our minimum deposit is $394. That is true if you choose to bring your own tent, our cheapest accommodations. The maximum required deposit is $712 if you choose a cabin with a toilet. Figure your deposit by adding $50 towards tuition to the full Room and Board cost. PayPal arrangements may be made with Liv.

Payment:  If full tuition is not paid at time of registration,  the remainder is due on 06/10/2019.

Cancellations and Refunds:

   Deposits include the full amount for accommodation and this is not refundable within 7 days of the workshop. Up to 7 days before the workshop all but $20 will be returned in the form of a voucher for future Breitenbush use. All but $20 of the Workshop fee is refundable.
