"Focusing" is a powerful mode of self-exploration, which is clinically proven to support personal transformation. Although not NVC, many NVC trainers and practitioners find that Focusing supports their ability to self-connect, be aware of/transform their inner experience, and speak more mindfully. "Focusing" is a practice that was discovered and developed by Eugene Gendlin who, like Marshall Rosenberg, was a student of the humanistic psychologist Carl Rogers. Gendlin discovered that the activity he named "Focusing" was something some people just do naturally. Research showed that, in psychotherapy and other change modalities, clients who do this tend to report more satisfying changes occurring over the long run. You can Focus in combination with other practices, or you can use it as a stand-alone modality for personal exploration. Focusing can be done alone, but, as a stand-alone modality, it is most easily done with the support of another person who acts as a Focusing partner. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of Focusing and have a chance to practice it together.
